Snow Trip Preparation

Proper Nutrition before a Snowboarding Trip

There are a few important preparation tips everyone should keep in mind before beginning their trip up into the mountains. First of all, the most important thing to remember is to eat a solid meal before hand. A healthy, complex carb enriched meal, high in protein, low in fat is the most ideal food you can eat. You will have the most natural energy from the carbs and protein, with out the side effect of being tired. It may also be important to bring travel snacks, for example, whole grain snack bars, fruit etc.
Another thing to remember is to dress warm, nothing is more uncomfortable and annoying than being wet and cold at the top of a mountain. Wearing under armer underneath your snow suit is a great way to maintain body warmth. It may also come in handy to bring a separate pair of gloves due to the fact that your initial pair will get wet and frozen half way during the day.

Be prepared and have a great trip !

Terrain Park Tips

Terrain Park

To a beginner, the terrain park can seem like an intimidating place. There are lots of good riders there, practicing their big tricks on huge jumps and rails.

Almost every park that I have been to has ratings on each of its features. They vary on each mountain, but they will generally go from an S (small feature), M (medium feature), L (large feature) and XL (extra large feature).

1. Know your skill level

If you are a beginner just starting out in the park, focus on the small features. They consist of small jumps, boxes and maybe even low rails. They have minimal physical consequences.

2. Wear a helmet

Many parks will require that you wear a helmet. Either way it’s probably a better idea to bang a helmet against the snow rather than your head.

3. First time

If it is your first time in the park, go in and watch everyone from the side. See where everyone lines up, where they drop from and get an idea of how the park works.

4. If you crash

If you crash, as soon as you can, move out of the way. It is a dangerous situation, especially on jumps because you can’t see over the knuckle from where the drop in it. If you are hurt, yell out so that someone can block the feature to stop other people crashing in to you.

5. Progress slowly

Work your way up, practice consistently and you will be hitting XL level features sooner than you think.

There is no doubt that Travis Rice is not only the best rider of 2016, but of all time. Travis is four time X Game medalist, the only rider the first double cork in competition, the first double on Chad’s gap, a podium at every 6 star TTR event, two biographical videos that have fundamentally changed the way we look at snowboarding. One of these videos being the Art of Flight, which is a documentation of Travis Rice’s exploration and subsequent slaying of those gigantic, fifty degree, ice cream sundae like faces in the Todrillo Mountains.

Helicopter Snowboarding

Helicopter Snowboarding

Possibly one of the most exciting Winter activities. Helicopter snowboarding or “heli skiing” is an exhilarating experience that is a must try if you are into extreme sports. Not only does a helicopter take you to the top of the mountain so you can experience some of the freshest powder, you also get to view the beautiful scenic view while flying up the mountain.
